Upgrading from an older Kindle to this is like night and day! The illuminated screen for night time reading without blue light interference is such a nice thing to have. No more eye strain and no more reading with the light on disturbing others. This Kindle feels really well made and very intuitive to use compared with older models with physical buttons. If you are on the fence about the paperwhite vs. normal model, definitely consider spending a little extra for much more convenience.

Bought for young one as Christmas presents as he is a voracious reader. I'm not a fan of the most of the free books in the kindle kids library. There are a few classics but you'll still have to pay for the premium books. The only downside is that books are available in only black and white. These means there are some books that I still prefer buying as hard copies for the kids so they can appreciate the imagery . Otherwise, a kindle is very convenient for travelling, safe saving and eco healthy as well.

It’s a light device, good size, but unfortunately uses a poor software. Slow, difficult to find anything, hard to zoom in, to browse and use in general. I was hoping it’d a good alternative to the iPad as avoids other kid apps distractions and focuses on reading but I’m actually disappointed.

I have had a good experiance in the past with kindle and when my previous kindle malfunctioned while still under warranty and I received my refund, I ordered this model as it seemed like the best way option for an ad free paperwhite. Turns out that in the most recent releases the ads are only removed on this version if you are actively on a child’s profile. I had to pay an extra £10 to not have ads on my device. I would not have purchased this version if that had been communicated clearly. I am very disappointed with this.
