Most Indie Authors I know say they are terrible at writing blurbs and absolutely dread that part of the process, and I'm no exception. I've tried outsourcing it in the past but it doesn't work so it's something I need to master so that I can overcome this "mental block" I have every time I'm getting ready to release something new. I searched for a good book on blurb-writing previously and was surprised to find there weren't that many options that fit what I was looking for so I was delighted when Bryan announced he was writing this book. He is undeniably one of the best blurb writers in the business. This book is great - a quick easy read packed with examples and exercises that force you to apply the learning as you go along. I was amazed at how different my end version was to my starting one and I've definitely taken away lots of learning. Practice makes perfect so only time will tell if it's added real value, but I have to say that I already feel more confident in tackling this head-on. The writing is great - it's witty, self-deprecating, and not in any way preachy. I picked up a copy on release day for 99c and I have to say it was money well spent. If you struggle with blurbs, this is the book for you. And even if you don't have issues with blurb-writing, I bet you'd still pick up some useful tidbits in this book. Most definitely worth a read.

If you want to write a great synopsis, this is the best book to turn to. Bryan Cohen is the master of the short form synopsis and you would do well to follow his instructions. Writing synopsis is a difficult art so it's good that there's someone who can help. I thoroughly recommend this book for any author.

Many helpful hints and tips and the exercises are excellent. Yes Bryan you did guilt me into doing them. The text was clearly written and presented and it was funny, very useful guide.

I bought this book after I did a five day online course about Amazon ads organised and presented by Brian in the hope that what he says about synopsis would be as clear and practical as what he thought me during the course. I was not disappointed. I've got to be honest and say that the book didn't contain a lot of information I didn't already knew. But, it helps and boosts my confidence to learn that I'm not totally ignorant when it comes to blurbs. To have all the advice delivered in a systematical, clear, and easy to understand and follow format was a huge bonus. While the book may not have taught me many new things, I have no doubt I'll revisit it often in the future, just to make sure I'm still on the right tracks.

I thought this book was excellent. It changed the way I think about writing synopses. I was ready to publish and had written a synopsis and knew it could be improved but had no idea how. I had my synopsis open on one screen and Bryan's book open on another and I worked it through like a college project, doing the exercises at the end of each of the brief chapters. It was a hugely productive process and surprisingly painless. I now have a streamlined, polished synopsis that should do what it needs to do: encourage the potential reader to click the buy button. I have two other books already out on Amazon and I'm actually looking forward to re-writing their product descriptions using what I've learned. I highly recommend this book, and I've paid more for a cup of coffee.

There were a handful of things Bryan doesn’t mention in his free webinars. It was worth buying the book, it was helpful with my blurb, though I took a star off because Bryan doesn’t use some of his own principles in the examples.

I am a nonfiction writer and this book is written with fiction writers referred to exclusively. That was somewhat of a disappointment to me. However I found that the steps and exercises outlined within were wonderfully helpful. You really won’t benefit from the book fully if you don’t read it and do the exercises. I wrote my first blurb as instructed at the book’s beginning, and chapter-by-chapter honed it until by the end of the book it had really improved! I thought my original version was excellent but the final version was so much better. And again, I was using it for a nonfiction book. I highly recommend this book, it is written by an author who is well trained and educated and knows not only what to do but why.
