If you are familiar with the iconic Reacher, I would say whilst it feels a little formulaic and I guessed the twist early, I really enjoyed the book hence 4 stars. If you have yet to join the millions of people who read these books then what's keeping you? Jump in and enjoy just don't start with this one read some earlier ones first.

Lee child does it again. Another brilliant Jack Reacher novel and I loved every page. Couldn't put the book down. Had to wait a little longer because I prefer to read a paperback but was well worth the wait. This one is just as good as the very first novel - The Killing Floor. Always excited when a new Jack Reacher book drops. Perfect blend of story telling, action and twists.

Not up to the standard of some of the earlier books. The story was a bit of a ramble with too much inconsequential detail and the plot seemed to almost come to an end half way through, then it started again, almost as if the author had put it down for a couple of weeks. Also, the ending was quite abrupt, I still had about 8% of the book (Kindle) remaining, but the last 8% is a taster from the next book, so I found that disappointing. I have read every book in the series, but I might not bother with the next one.

TBH I have read all the LeeChild/Reachers and I am a big fan but this one didn’t start well for me. Different literary device and style-wise, I was less captivated but as always, it suddenly became like the Reachers of old and got good again. Yes, I would recommend it like I recommend all Reacher books but take note of how this starts. It’s different and takes some major getting used to.

You can tell from the start that Lee Child did not write this on his own. Pretty boring story that was dragged out for ages and not up to usual standards

As always I am never disappointed, another great read. Always the same story: Reacher helps someone in trouble gets the girl, beats the bad guys and saves the day. Always different settings and scenarios. Always clever, always enjoyable.

I remember when I couldn't wait for the next Reacher book and would pre-order so i could read it as soon as it came out. I used to wake up for work groggy because I'd stayed up way too late reading, simply unable to put the book down. For the last few books, however, I have actually waited until the price dropped before downloading. Coincidentally(?) This has been since Andrew Child took the reins ( I know Lee is still the main name on the covers, but this is just for brand recognition and it is obvious he has little to no input in the writing). This is NOT Reacher anymore. I like how Andrew reintroduced things like Reacher playing music in his head again but, other than that, there is none of the old magic. This book is by far the worst in the series. It's simply BORING. Andrew continues the trend of making our hero rely on others to do most of his thinking for him and throws a wet blanket on proceedings anytime it starts building up to something. Actually, I've just realised that I've already put more effort into this review than the author put into this latest story so, like the author, I'll just stop before it gets satisfying. Ill just say this, if Lee Child doesn't want to write Reacher stories anymore, by himself, then let him go entirely, while he still some dignity left.

I have read all the Reacher books. This is the worst by a long way. On a couple of occasions, I almost stopped reading. Time for the series to end i fear.

Yes, the real Reacher has returned in Book 29. "In Too Deep" has Reacher regaining consciousness, chained to a bed with a compound fractured arm, and unable to recall what happened. What follows is a complex and riveting plot that develops ever-so-slowly, not fully revealing its intricacies until the denoument, which is almost at the very end. However, it's not an abrupt ending. The intricate plot with lots of characters requires thorough development and Lee and Andrew Child did their jobs well. In my opinion, this book is the first that has recaptured the essence of Reacher's character since the two began their collaboration in Book 25. Reacher's intellect, logic and ability to think like his opponent, therefore anticipating his actions and reactions, and his physical prowess, make him a formidable force. It's those qualities that have made me a devoted reader of the entire series, some of which I've read more than once. What's not to like? "In Too Deep" is worthy of all 5 stars!
