What I liked: It's an interesting book, and if one can implement the teachings, then I strongly suspect that for most people it would lead to an improvement in their life. It's a quick read, maybe a couple of hours or so, but it's a book you can come by back to and read again, and I will most likely do that because I could see many of the failings it described in myself and it's good to be reminded about those from time to time. What I disliked: I'm not a religious person, and for the most part it's neutral in terms of religion, but periodically the author flips into religious mode and starts talking about God, which put me off somewhat. The final chapter (prayers), was just waffling filler and a real spoiler. I'll be skipping that if I read the book again. There is not much content, and the text is large. The same thing is said over and over so the book could have been half as long, therefore it's expensive for what you actually get.

"The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz is an extraordinary guide to personal freedom and spiritual enlightenment. With its concise yet impactful principles, this book offers a roadmap to transforming one's life by breaking free from limiting beliefs and embracing a new way of being. Ruiz distills ancient Toltec wisdom into four foundational agreements that can lead readers toward a path of self-discovery and profound self-improvement. These agreements are: - Be Impeccable with Your Word: Ruiz emphasizes the immense power of our words and how they shape our reality. By choosing honesty, speaking positively about ourselves and others, and refraining from using words against ourselves, we can create a life rooted in authenticity and integrity. - Don't Take Anything Personally: This agreement liberates us from the tyranny of others' opinions and actions. Ruiz explains how the way people treat us is a reflection of their own experiences and beliefs, not a measure of our worth. By letting go of the need for external validation, we can find inner peace. - Don't Make Assumptions: Assumptions often lead to misunderstandings and unnecessary conflicts. Ruiz advocates for open communication and the courage to ask questions, ensuring clarity and preventing unnecessary emotional suffering caused by jumping to conclusions. - Always Do Your Best: By committing to doing your best in every moment, you release yourself from the chains of self-judgment and regret. This agreement encourages self-compassion and the understanding that our "best" can vary from day to day due to circumstances beyond our control. Ruiz's writing style is simple and accessible, yet it carries a profound depth of wisdom. He masterfully weaves together spiritual insights, psychology, and practical advice into a tapestry of transformation. The anecdotes and examples he shares make the concepts relatable and applicable to everyday life. "The Four Agreements" is not a book to read and forget; it's a manual for living authentically and harmoniously. Its teachings can help us dismantle the self-imposed limitations that hinder our growth and happiness. By adopting these agreements, readers can embark on a journey of self-mastery, leading to a more fulfilling and purpose-driven existence. This book is a must-read for anyone seeking personal development, spiritual growth, or a deeper understanding of the human experience. Whether you're new to self-help literature or a seasoned reader, "The Four Agreements" offers timeless wisdom that has the potential to reshape your perception of the world and your place within it.

I like the setting of this explanation and enjoy the insights on how we did not know what agreements we were getting ourselves into as we were growing up, or better said, the magnitude of them. However, as we now experience our own mistakes and triumphs, it is easier for us to know what we like and don't like and what agreements we want to make. Loving it so far its very eye-opening and a must for all.
