... I'm struggling to work out what it is for. If it integrated with, for instance, OneNote or EverNote, it would be a great way to take notes in meetings, to refer to notes from other meetings, to have your notebook always with you. The way it reads even my handwriting is almost spooky. But, as a standalone product, it's not much better than writing in a normal notebook, taking a pic and running it through an OCR package. That's not to say it isn't beautiful. It's well designed and a magnificent e-reader, the jade is a lovely stand-out colour, the pen is seamless and the way writing appears instantly... it looks and feels just like "normal" writing. I just think it's done 50% of the job so it's a blooming expensive reader. Edited to add that, reading the other reviews, I've clearly been sold on the stuff that the AI does in the US and doesn't do in the UK, which was not clear in the description when I placed the order. This thing, as it stands currently, is of no benefit to me. I could wait until AI becomes available but, given that will be beyond the return date and there's no certainty it will offer everything when it does arrive, it's going back.

I like to read research papers and PDF format books - I had a 2021 signature edition which worked flawlessly but screen was too small thus had small characters, now with bigger screen I feel I am ready a proper book size. Leaving aside the missing features for UK (which is unfortunate) - this device is great :)

I bought this to power through the reading that I need to do that I typically would print off before. Sending PDFs to the Scribe was easy, but once it is there I can't highlight it or underline it. It's not suited for what I need it for.

Context: I bought this following an injury to my left side that has made typing difficult. I was hoping for a note taking device that would convert written notes to text on the device. What I got: A large Kindle you can scribble notes on by hand. Writing is OK (you don't need to buy spare extra tips straight away - they come in the box). The screen is lovely and clear for reading, but then so is the Paperwhite which is way lighter and better to read in bed. This is only good for sitting or desktops. - Text to type only happens if you email the note to yourself and read the attachment in the email. Not what I expected - I thought it would occur locally. - Whisper sync between devices is not half as good as it is between my old Kindle Fire and Paperwhite when it comes to synchronising reading. Rather unpredictable and inaccurate. - Moving between the book you're reading and accessing notebooks is not rapid. I expected it to be much more instinctive and efficient but it involves several clicks. - I also bought the Amazon leather case which is rather spiky and the device falls out of if you don't fold perfectly. It costs a lot more than other Kindle devices and I'm not sure I can justify it sadly. I'll give it a few more days but a return is likely. Will update this review if a substantial over the air update occurs in the coming days - I purchased on release day.

Very pleased with this new version having enjoyed the old scribe since it came out. I don’t use the writing function very much but can see how it would be very useful for study and meeting notes etc. I use it for reading and the large new screen is a treat. Build quality is superb and the Jade colour is great. All in all I am chuffed with this and a bonus is that covers from previous version fit.

Tablet is lovely to write on and good for taking notes. Annotating in text books is disappointing as the text box generated can't be moved so it often makes the overall page look awkward and cluttered. I had hoped to try out the advertised AI support but, as others have also discovered, this is not available in UK. Surely this is mis-selling at its finest. I now have the choice of returning the product or putting up with an inferior device whilst waiting for Amazon to rectify this issue.

As other reviewers mentioned, the new Amazon Scribe 2024 lacks the promised AI features that are only available in the US. Not sure if they’ll will make its way to the UK in the near future but at £379, I see no justification in keeping this version of Scribe instead of purchasing the 2022 version which has the same updates. Another constant niggle I experienced was when I continued writing, the ink to paper position kept changing as well as the size leading to bad handwriting and not staying on the lines. I had to keep resetting back to the pen icon in tools. Note, the click button on the pen wasn’t accidentally pressed when this occurred. I’m returning the device due to unfit for purpose for what I needed (note-taking, journaling).

The size is perfect. I’m a university student and being able to write on the page for my notes is a game changer. It’s sleek, feels expensive, works like a dream. Smooth and slim.
