This series is profound, compelling, full of philosophy, humour and compassion, but gritty, suspenseful and unpredictable. Above all, the characters are superbly drawn, loveable even when at their most flawed - and Jake the main character is vulnerable, broken, damaged, but a seeker after healing, truth and reconciliation. I am suffering withdrawal now I have finished them and may just go back and re-read! Thank you, Andrew, for your gift.

Creepy Crawly has left me absolutely breathless and excited for more with every turn of the page. If you are a fan of crime, please don't look any further. Mr Lowe writes with style, flair and imagination where in the world of fiction, he created characters who are real, believable and most importantly, down to Earth. His writing style is effortless, smooth and straight to the point and the dialogue is smart, interesting, witty and entertaining...all this, combined with a healthy dose of a gritty plots and twist, is a recipe for instant success! Not only has this debut book left me breathless, it has also left me utterly mesmerised and with a huge smile on my face. I am looking forward to reading everything else that the writer has in store for DI Sawyer and co. Mr Lowe, I salute you...as in the world of British crime thrillers, you rock!

DI Jake Sawyer is a man with a past which influences his every move. His complex character adds another dimension to his investigation of a particularly nasty series of murders on his return to his beloved Peak District after learning his craft in London. I particularly enjoyed his constant references to the music he loves even though much of it is unfamiliar to me. I shall be reading the later books in this series with a sense of anticipation.

Enjoyed the story line very much, but felt it was a little padded out in places with too much formation, and repeated back stories. Sometimes less is more. Not sure I could make it through book 2, which is a shame as all in all it's a good book.

I loved spending time with Jake and Shepherd. This case was awesome. Mind bending with twists and turns I didn't see coming. Most stories are predictable to an extent but this one was differant. The killer was no psychopath but a normal person seeking revenge for is mother's savage attack and consequential death? Maybe. Anyway it's an awesome book that deserves to be read.

I loved this. What a great start to a series and this definitely leaves me wanting more. Jake is a great character, troubled yes, but with a drive for justice both for current victims and also for his mother who was murdered years before. Jake is convinced her convicted killer who is coming up for parole, is innocent. This is an intriguing sidetrack to the main event where someone is abducting and killing people , leaving them in a coffin while filming the whole show. The story was terrific and Jake is quite a funny droll character, a bit annoying at times but with the cleverness that makes it easy to put up with him. I want to know more about his past especially with Maggie and the relationship with his brother brings out a different side to him. The reveal as to the killer and especially the motive was quite shocking. If this doesn't leave you wanting to read more in the series, I don't know what will.

It was a book that took you many turns and twist. Following characters that came together In the end and had you caring for each one.

This is a new author for me. Took me quite a few chapters to get use to the writing style. However, when I did, I sank into the story. I like the protagonist, Jake Sawyer. He is interesting, with many layers. Look forward to reading more about him. A good plot. Well worth reading.

It started out slow. I think the first twenty percent could be in one chapter, but I was curious so I persevered. I am glad I did, because it really got good. I loved the facing scenes and became involved with many of the characters. I want to know more about DCI Jake Sawyer, so I can't wait to read more books in this series. If they don't start out as slow, they will get five stars.
